Donations for Cuba 2008

Please consider sharing with your family & friends the following list of items that are needed, appreciated, and well used by households in Cuba. Small items of the same type should be placed in re-sealable (Ziploc) plastic bags. Any questions can be directed to Thank you so much for your support!

Used by team members and donated at trip's end:
† Suitcases - soft sided (light in weight), capable of holding 40 lbs.
† Sheet set for twin or double bed - 1 per team member
† Towel set - 1 per team member
† Platypus water bladder (4 liters +) and tablets for making drinking water safe
† Flavor packets.
† First aid kit for team (cuts, bites, muscles, eyes, headaches, stomach)
† Shoes (Work boots, men's or women's tennis shoes)
† Spanish/English Bibles
† Monetary contributions: Checks can be made out to Church of the Chimes designated for
† 1. Ministry team's travel expenses or 2. Cuban ministry inside Cuba

Other items:
† Knitted purses, lightweight purses, canvas bags
† Fabrics: enough to make skirts, light weight, washable, subtle prints. (1 yd?)
† Fabrics: for children's summer weight clothes. (1 yd?)
† Fabrics: for summer sleepwear (1 yd?)
† Sewing machine
† Prescription eyeglasses
† Reading glasses (often found in Target's dollar bins)
† Sunglasses (men, women, children)
† Brimmed hats - for summer
† Small umbrellas (used for sun protection)
† Spanish devotional or themed study books for men, women and teen groups
† Spanish materials for Pastors to use in encouraging marriages
† School supplies: pencils, color pencils, sharpeners, pens, workbooks in Spanish (gr. K-8) will be used in the schools!
† Spanish women's Christian poetry

Please put in Ziploc bags:
† Small Toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, comb, lotion, plastic shaver, shower liquid soap, deodorant.
† Manicure: clippers (large & small), nail strengthener, calcium items, polish, remover (packaged pads), pumice, fungi-products for feet.
† Women's Personal: Menstrual pads, all sizes except thin. (no tampax)
† Make-up: Mascara, lip items, sun protection for face & lips, eye shadow, face soap, masks, moisturizers.
† Bras: all sizes, gently used or new
† Underwear for Men, women and children
† White crew socks for school aged children (ages 5-18)
† Vitamins: for men, women, pregnant women, children, babies
† Men: shaving items, aftershave, plastic shavers, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, comb, shampoo, deodorant.
† 'Other' Men supplies: hooks, line, small pocket knife, flashlight, small tools, new tool "heads", rechargeable battery kits.
† General medications: Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Motrin, calcium tablets, ointments for cuts, burns, hemorrhoids, constipation, diarrhea, etc.
† Prescription meds: anything you have, not expired. Antibiotics especially needed. Also for heart, diabetes, and asthma.
† Baby items: ointments for rash, powder, anything useful for cleaning baby and applying at home remedies for common fevers, etc.
† Baby: diaper wraps, cotton diapers, training pants, plastic pants, brimmed hat, sun protection, mosquito protection for baby & small children, small packages of nutritional supplements, small baby toy, pacifiers, and baby clothes for summer, light blankets.
† First aide for children: vitamins, aspirin, cough, cold, flu, band aids, cuts, etc.
† Kitchen: spices, seasonings, bouillon cubes, instant chocolate mixes. (Cinnamon seems to be a favorite!)
† Sewing: needles, pins, threads, elastic, sequins, beads, (decorative anything) buttons, zippers, safety pins, pin cushion, needles for old style sewing machines (size 11-16), etc.
† Crafts: glue, anything small for crafts (they make items and sell)
† Bracelet beading materials
