An UNCONTAINABLE WITNESS TO OTHERS
It is our desire to serve others in our community and ultimately the world in the name of Jesus Christ. We are
committed to joining Him in His mission in the world. We highly value creative thinking, strategic planning,
frontline and behind the scenes workers who have a heart for building the Kingdom of God. We invite you to
explore the many opportunities for serving others at CotC.
Beautiful Day - Saturday, April 28th
We will take the opportunity to show our uncontainable love for Jesus Christ to our local community by serving them on “Beautiful Day". We have targeted projects that will serve as a vehicle for us to show the love and grace of God as we put into practice the arts of noticing, praying, listening, loving, and serving. The eleven projects are:
• Prayer Walk
• Distribute Promo Fliers
• Hosted Dumpster
• Take Your Dog to the Park
• Park Clean-Up
• BBQ at Butcher Park for the Donna Lane Community
• Make a Meal and Bake Goodies for SJFD Station 9
• Convalescent Care Outreach
• Acts of Mercy - Free Dinner
• Planting Flowers
• Light Painting
If you are interested in participating in one of these six projects, please contact Pastor Tim Ruiz, (408) 414-0798.
Acts of Mercy
Saturday Evenings, 5:00-7:00 p.m., Family Life Center
The Acts of Mercy ministry serves the needy in our community by focusing on feeding them spiritually and
physically and providing clothing, shoes and other supplies. This requires table facilitators/hosts, cooking
team members, set up/tear down help, and non-perishable canned food and clothing donations.
For more information, please contact Rick Hernandez, (408) 294-4602.
Q Place
Church of the Chimes is a Q Place Equipping Center. Q Place is an organization that enables people to figure out for themselves what they believe about God and the
Bible. The Q is for Questions. A Q Place is a group of two to twelve people who get together on a regular basis
with two or three Initiators to discuss questions about God and the Bible. With time-tested guidelines and solid
inductive resources, Initiators cultivate a healthy group process so that everyone in the group can come to
conclusions at their own pace.
A Q Place is a place where you can talk about God with people who listen. Everyone is welcome. You are accepted and respected and
you can be yourself—joys, pains, doubts, and all. People meet together in a Q Place to discuss tough spiritual questions about God and the Bible. Those who
start a Q Place are prepared to facilitate discussions that are respectful, significant, and filled with discovery.
People have been drawn to our groups because our inductive approach to learning allows them to interact with
faith-related topics. This learning approach is especially important when people have doubts or major questions.
In our discussions, people can raise their questions and explore topics about God and the Bible
inductively—discovering for themselves what the Bible says and evaluating topics about God after exploring a
variety of viewpoints. In the process, they have the opportunity to identify what they believe, and then
clarify, explore, and evaluate what they are learning.
If you would like more information about starting a Q Place,
check out QPlace.com or contact Pastor Tim Ruiz or Fran Goodrich.
Helping Hands
Church of the Chimes has four feeding teams that partner with InnVision to feed those in need. Each team feeds
once a month (teams serve on either the 1st Sunday of the month, the 2nd Sunday of the month, the 3rd Tuesday
of the month or the 4th Sunday of the month). If you are interested in serving by cooking and volunteering with
one of these teams, please contact Pastor Tim Ruiz, (408) 414-0798.
Cuba Mission Trip
Church of the Chimes has a partnership in church planting in Cuba with United World Missions. We send a mission
team to Cuba each summer to serve, encourage and support the local church in Cuba. If you are interested in
going, please contact Pastor Tim Ruiz, (408) 414-0798.
Mexico Mission Trip
Historically, Church of the Chimes sends a team of High School students and leaders to serve and support the
orphanage "El Reino de los Ninos" in Baja Mexico. If you are interested in this trip, please contact
Pastor Beryl Banks, (408) 414-0793.
